You may be depressed if you experience at least some of the following symptoms: persistent sadness without an apparent cause; lethargy and loss of interest in daily activities and activities, which you usually like; indifference and unnatural pessimism; a strong sense of worthlessness and guiltyness; a loss of appetite; insomnia or the urge to sleep more than normal; inabilty to concentrate and indecisiveness; anxiety, irritability and anger; An urge to die or even to commit suicide.

You do not necessarily have to experience all symptoms at once to be classified as depressed. Also the strength of the various depression symptoms may vary over time. However, if you experience at least some of the above symptoms over a prolonged period of time you may be depressed. Please consult a doctor to get a definite diagnosis and to start treatment as soon as possible, if necessary.
