There is a high likelihood that you are depressed, if you experience at least some symptoms such as: lethargy and loss of interest in daily activities and activities, which you usually like; persistent sadness with no obvious reason; strong pessimism; anxiety; a strong sense of worthlessness and guiltyness; loss of appetite; insomnia or the urge to sleep more than normal; inabilty to concentrate; indecisiveness; irritability and anger; a lack of interest in meeting people including close friends and family, an urge to die or even to commit suicide.

If you are depressed you do not necessarily have to experience all of the symptoms above and the intensity of the symptoms may also vary while they last. Nonetheless, if you have some of the symptoms listed before persisiting over time there is a chance that you are depressed.
